Walla Walla Community Hospice offers bereavement support for children through the family bereavement program, and through coordination with other local agencies who work with grieving children. WWCH's Community Resource Library also includes many materials for children and resources for parents of grieving children.

Camp Amanda is for children 7 - 14 who have experienced the death of a close family member. The purpose of the camp is two fold:

  • To provide children the opportunity to meet others their own ages who have experienced death in their families.
  • To encourage children to play, laugh and have fun, to recognize their fears and concerns, deal with them, and relax and have a good time!

Camp activities are geared to the age level of the campers, and include games, cookouts, campfires, arts and crafts, sing-a-longs, swimming, fishing and time for sharing. There is no charge for children to attend.

Camp Amanda will be held July 24 - 26, 2009 in the Blue Mountains in southeast Washington State. The number of campers is limited to 24. Children who have attended other grief camps are not eligible to attend.
